Pakistan Shells Poonch District Villages

On May 7, 2025, the Pakistan Army launched a deadly cross-border shelling in the Poonch Town of Jammu and Kashmir, killing 12 civilians. And injuring 57 others. This unprovoked attack targeted non military areas, causing fear and destruction.  


Children's and Women Among Dead 

The victims included 4 children and 3 women, hit by mortar fire while inside their homes. Locals say the shelling started early morning, forcing countless to flee into near forest lands for safety.   


Gurdwara Damaged in Attack   

A famous Gurdwara in Poonch was hit by a Pakistani mortar, causing heavy damage. This has initiated outrage across the country, especially among the Sikh community.   


India Retaliates explosively   

Indian Army responded with heavy fire at Pakistan Army posts across the Line of Control (LOC). Military authority confirm other enemy bunkers were destroyed in the counterattack. 


Operation Sindoor Link Suspected   

Defense specialists believe this attack is retaliation for Operation Sindoor, India’s latest airstrike on terrorist camps in PoK, which killed over 70 terrorists linked to the Pahalgam terror attack.

Border townlets Suffer Heavy Loss   

Houses, educational institutions, and shops in Balakote and Mendhar sectors were damaged. Electricity lines and roads were destroyed, cutting off several border  small towns from necessary supplies.   


Army on High Alert   

The Indian Army and BSF are on high alert. supplementary forces have been implemented along the LOC, and night surveillance has been increased to help  additional infiltration.   


Search Ops Launched   

Indian forces launched a massive search operation in Poonch forest lands, where they set up IEDs, arms, and wireless sets hidden in a tunnels-pointing terror  sleeper cells may be active close by.   


Political commination   

Indian leaders criticize the Pakistan shelling, calling it a war crime. Defense Minister specified, "India will respond with full force if civilians are targeted again." 


Relief and Liberation Ongoing   

The Red Cross, local police, and military medical groups are working to treat the wounded and relocate people from the danger zones.
